  • Bud Poile became the first General Manager of the Philadelphia Flyers on May 31, 1966 after stints with the Red Wings farm clubs and a team from San Francisco of the WHL.  He was fired after players told Ed Snider about his flaring temper with the team.

  • Keith Allen took over when Bud Poile was fired. Keith Allen was assured this spot with the team when he signed with the team as their first head coach. Keith Allen at age 59 became the new Senior Advisor to new General Manager Bob McCammon.

  • Bob McCammon took over for Keith Allen in 1983.  Bob McCammon was also the flyers coach during this time. When the flyers felt he was not able to put forth enough effort to be both he resigned in 1984.

  • The flyers needed a replacement General Manager and for this one went into the organization. The flyers made their long time captain and hall a famer Bob Clarke the new GM.  He produced two Stanley Cup Finals Births during his tenard but lost both. In 1989 Clarke was fired as GM of the Flyers and moved on to be the GM of the new Florida Panthers.

  • Russ Farwell took over for Bobby Clarke during the 1990-1991 season. He was the one who made the Lindros deal and the Brind'Amour deal and the Recchi Deal.  He lasted until 1993-1994. When he was unwillingly replaced by Bob Clarke.

  • Bob Clarke now took over a team that has a solid young nucleus and was in need of a coach. He hired Terry Murray a the recently fired coach of the Washington Capitals.  Bob Clarke led the team to it's first playoff birth in 5 years and then two years later to a Stanley Cup Finals birth. Clarke is the present General Manager and it doesn't seem like he will be going anywhere soon.
