Keith Jones Retires!

Jones

On Tuesday Keith Jones announced his retirement from the National Hockey League due to injuries that have caused him to miss the last 12 games because of post concussion syndrome and a inflamed knee. Jones was brought over from Colorado for Shjon Podein early two years ago. Jones recorded 9 goals and 16 assist for 25 points last year. The first year he came over to Philly he recorded 18 in a flyers uniform.

Washington Capitals 
The Atlanta Thrashers, in just there second year of existence are making some strides in the National Hockey League. The Thrashers are currently in a division that does not have a team with a winning record. The Southeast featuring Washington, Florida, Carolina, Tampa Bay, and the Thrashers is the weakest in the league. The Thrashers are currently tied for 1st place in the division with Tampa Bay with just 14 points.  Washington

 

Flyers 5 Capitals 3

Who would have thought that a month after the flyers started the season with 1 win in their first 6 games they would be one point out of the Eastern Conference lead. The flyers came within one point on Saturday night with a 5-3 victory over the Washington Capitals. The flyers got goals from the underclassmen on this night. Rookie Justin Williams and Sophomore Simon Gagne each scored twice, and Keith Primeau added another in the win. Brian Boucher starting in net for the first time in 4 games made 35 saves.  Steve Konowalchuk recorded his 3rd career hat trick for the Capitals in the loss.
